i started reading this since my nephew was warded and it had been almost 48 hours since admission at 3.30 AM two days ago.
I couldnt really ubderstand the flow, like every chapters set a different door to another new character to be knocked on. If I immerse the entire souls and use my imaginary creation skill wholly I think this story was quite gripping because the mysteries behind the issues were so much in suspense twist.
all cries and laughs, noise and screams of the ward personnel might distract a bit but it somehow didnt stop me to finish it.
Benedict devlin is an inspector. he looked like Liev Shreiber in my head. Had a wife named Debbie and Penny with Shane were his kids.
he wanted to investigate about the disappearance of Declan Cleary since 1976 like too long ago. He got a gf named Mary and kid named Sean.
He went for a dig deep on island but found a baby skull.
Sean met Benedict and insisted on the finding.
Benedict met an old officer, his friend, Costello (if its not misspelled) spoke something about Jimmy Callan, a smuggler back in those old days. Ben went through this, and found more suspects like Seamus O Hara, and Nial martin and blablabla (I lost track when these people came on)
Christine Cashell, a former client reported something about hearing baby's voice on monitor. Her husband/bf thought she was crazy. But Ben heard it himself and studied more.
Went out of the house and saw a neighbor named Sheila Clark, talked about an attempted attack from Christine to her(or idk) .
And Ben saw some infancy stuffs in her shopping bag.
Sean Cleary was found dead, followed by Seamus Ohara. Stephen Burke (teen) saw the tragedy and he went to interrogate him
funny how burke hit penny (acquaintance) because he hated her father
Then Idk what happened, because things at hospital regarding my nephew was quite a chaos
He is very ill, even at the time im writing this, we just received a news that the illness came again ðŸ˜
So there came Martin, blablabla from nowhere and i could only tell the final shot.
Sheila Clark escaped the neighborhood since thr suspection. Caught then, and questioned by the officers. she told about the illegal adoption happened decades ago.
Benedict took a step to meet martin, callan and so many people (see i coulndt even discern the rigjt antagonist) it seemed that dominic callan (jimmy callan's boy) did something illegal with the unwanted babies. and declan cleary intended to tell a truth to the authority and he had to kill him
So the voice from the monitor came from Sheila's house or car but in her custody or wstv
The story was superb. So unfortunate I couldnt focus. Bringing fiction to hospital just like I did when I kept my ill mom a company a year ago, I had to reread the The Book Of You by Claire Kendall. It was just to avoid the boredom when the patient was sleeping.
Okay, gonna do Codex by Lev Grossman tomorrow coz i ll be in hospital .
