*catching mood to write*
Writing review was a last night idea, becoming so much enthusiast to tell the world about the books I read (or just writing memories so that I wont forget what the books told me)
Broken Monster by Lauren Beukes, started around 12.40 am on 14th Nov 202016 (why ever people should set a time? pathetic me) and I just finished it by 11.45 pm on 15th Nov 2016.
I didnt really understand the stories at the first few pages (that Beukes wrote about the scenes AFTER the real stories drawn in the books). I was literally confused and had no urge to continue (courseeee I would continue or it would be such a waste) or the reason could be the lack of my skill in English-reading (then improve lah! - says the well-bright-minded community, I like these people rather than people who thinks Non-english English user are brats and arsehole.)
Before that, I imagined thesr faces
Enrique as Jonno
Carla Gugino as Gabi
Dove Cameron as Cas
Young Taylor Lautner as Travis
Mr. Lovegood in Harrypotter with short hair as Mr Lafonte
The rests are vague haha
I told you, I dont understand this story but when I reach the subchapter BEFORE, I started to be carried away. Why Beukes described all these different characters in different chapters. I was sooooo confused but by the time I reached 100++th page, I could light up my head to put my epitomization of the story very well thru the reading.
Layla is Gabi's daughter, Jonno is the asshole vlogger TK is a nice guy with not-so-nice past and Clay, is complicated haha
It all went nonsense and a little bit unrelevant when Layla was described about having to sexchat with some othet guy and put herself in trouble by seeing the guy somewhere in a cafe with Cas. Jonno, with the obsession of JenQ were actually looking for some jobs to do. (its getting confusing) and TK with the church-thing and Clayton with the emotional parts. (I TOLD YOU I WAS HAVING A HARD TIME TO UNDERSTAND OR MAYBE ITS JUST BSCAUSE IM NOT A READUH)
And I reacher 100++th I finally understand when suddenly, Gabi returned home to speak to Layla (and I found they were family) and Layla's scenes and Jonno's scene were correlated in a few chapters and there it began.
It was about a murder of a boy mutilated to become half deer half human. Gabi is the homicide detective and Layla was also involved in this incident (and where I found this Layla character was turning useful, coz the story revolving Layla was all about high school dramas, girly stuffs and the sexchatting probs) and Jonno was so greedy to film everythinggg and it gave trouble to the police (and now, he s playing a role in this story coz his scenes werr all about him and JenQ previously) and the real Detroit Monster was among all of the characterz I mentioned throughout this writing session.
And this story also depicted the unusual abnormalities. You could feel the swirling in your soul once you reached the part where the other dimension nudges you to think deep.
Goosebumps on page 291, where Layla was almost killed (not really it was all a matter of suspense)
Tears on page 450 (mother-daughter's kind of goodbye)
and puking (no lah! no no im not puking) where the tattoes lining up agains the skin of JenQ and the ribs bloated with all those crazy things flying out fron the chest.
